OUR HISTORY
Cathedral Peaks Station owners, Cam and Wendy McDonald’s love of horses sparked their relationship, while their love of family, farming and Fiordland has united them together for over 40 years and counting.
Cam met Wendy while travelling the length of the country on horseback. During this journey, the two fell in love with the Fiordland area and were lucky enough to find the perfect plot of land to fulfil their dream of owning their own farm.
It is on Cathedral Peaks Station that Cam and Wendy raised their three children. Youngest daughter Breidi and her husband Brad are continuing the family farming legacy, opening Cabot Lodge on the property.
Both Breidi and Brad are passionate about farming and sharing this special part of the world. The pair feel unbelievably lucky to have created an experiential lodge in the heart of Fiordland, with the opportunity to showcase the people and the place they love so much.
In addition to running Cabot Lodge, Brad has introduced beehives to Cathedral Peaks Station, and is currently experimenting with berry cultivars, to expand the farms produce beyond wool and meat.
Guests of the Lodge can enjoy the fruits of the family’s labour, with fresh honey, berries, meats, as well as fresh produce from the vegetable garden and eggs from the resident chickens. Guests are also invited to join on-farm activities, such as beekeeping, and experience what it is to be part of an authentic New Zealand family farm.
